Handwriting: Homeschool Handwriting Tips By Mimi Rothschild
Handwriting in the homeschool can be a fun way to develop a child's understanding of the written word and provide them with a valuable skill that will undoubtedly serve him or her later in life. Some parents will receive complaints from their children claiming that with the advent of computers and keyboard technology, they should no longer have to learn about writing.Nothing could be further from the truth! They'll be thanking you next time they finish a college essay in time.
Homeschoolers can follow these helpful hints for handwriting success:
1. If your child grips his or her pen too tightly, the writing that results will be sloppy. You can reinforce a proper grip by playing fun games such as “Topple” and “Jenga”.It's a great way to have a good time with your homeschooler while helping to develop their force modulation skills.
2.Speed is a good thing to learn in terms of handwriting. It will make their hands sore, but your homeschoolers need to learn how to write fast in order to complete lengthy timed essays in college.Ensure that quality of the writing style is not sacrificed in place of speed.
3. Make writing fun!Your homeschoolers can make friends across the world with a penpal while simultaneously improving their handwriting skills.Encourage your children to maintain communication with a friend from across the globe.
4.Homeschooled children can do several other activities to make writing fun.Make up a Christmas wish list.Write up a shopping list.Keep your priorities in order with a to-do list. The possibilities are endless.Just remember that the focus should be on handwriting.
