Jubilee English 8: Living Language

The eighth grade English level course Living Language helps homeschoolers explore the use of the English language for clear self-expression. This course expands on grammar concepts and utilizes literature studies that reinforce the principles of language usage in books. Through reading, comprehension, and discussion, homeschoolers are challenged to encounter and respond to higher levels of literature. Works studied by the homeschooler in Living Language include Romeo and Juliet, The Diary of Ann Frank, Lord of the Flies, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Kidnapped. Homeschoolers will develop a comprehensive understanding of concepts such as sentence mechanics, grammar pitfalls, modifiers, restrictive and nonrestrictive clauses, description, and personal essay through the study of these works.
